Spanish Style Rice

A true family classic here, don’t make tacos without it!



Ingredients:

  • 1 cup long grain or jasmine rice

  • 1 8oz can tomato sauce

  • 1 cup water or broth

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, onion powder, and cumin

  • Salt/pepper to taste

  • Olive oil for sautéing


Directions:

  1. Heat a pan over medium high heat and add oil to lightly coat the bottom. Add 1 cup of rice and stir to coat.

  2. Season the rice with all the seasoning and continue to stir, allowing the rice to lightly toast. About 5 minutes, stirring often.

  3. In a 2 cup measure add the tomato sauce and then add water or broth until you have a total of 2 cups liquid.

  4. Add the 2 cups of liquid to the pan and stir until it begins to bubble. Cover and turn heat down to low for 25-30 minutes.

  5. Uncover and check that all the liquid has been absorbed, fluff and serve!
