The original recipe for this sauce started as one from a Pioneer Woman cookbook but over time it has morphed into a smaller batch with a few less ingredients. We love this sauce!
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
1 lb ground Italian sausage
1 jar marinara sauce
28 oz can crushed tomato
1 small can tomato paste
1/2 cup broth of choice
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves of garlic, minced
3 bay leaves
1 teaspoon each of dried oregano and dried thyme
1 tablespoon dried basil
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoons salt
1/4-1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
Brown and drain the meat before adding to the slow cooker.
Add all other ingredients, stir to combine.
Cook on low for 6-8 hours. Remove the bay leaves before serving over pasta.
